CPN (MC) Likely To Select Office Bearers Today

The CPN (Maoist Centre) is likely to select office bearers and a standing committee on Sunday.
The central committee meeting of the party on Friday held discussions on the issues like Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and entered organisational issues, including selection of office bearers.

The party central committee members have claimed that the Sunday meeting of the party central committee will decide on officer bearers and standing committee members. Sunday’s meeting will also focus on the completion of the action plan and giving full shape to the party organisations, said Shri Ram Dhakal, chief secretary of the party office.

“The meeting will now focus on formulating an action plan and party organisation, including selection of office bearers. The meeting is highly likely to make a decision in this regard,” said Dhakal.
The recently held 8th General Convention of CPN (MC) had selected a 247-member central committee. Shortly afterwards, the meeting of the party central committee held on January 3 had unanimously elected Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as the chairman.

However, the party has yet to elect 14 of its 15 office bearers. As per the party statute, the party central committee should elect the office bearers.
Central member Dev Gurung said that the office bearers could be selected if consensus could be reached at Sunday’s meeting.
The meeting would be focused on the party organisation and action plan, Gurung said.
