CPN (Unified Socialist) Becomes One Of Largest Parties In Sudur Paschim Province, 3 More Lawmakers Join It Today

Three more lawmakers in the Sudur Paschim Provincial Assembly today joined the newly formed CPN (Unified Socialist) deserting the CPN (UML), which has made the newly formed party one of the largest parties in the province.

The Unified Socialist has now 13 lawmakers in this provincial assembly, equal to that of the CPN (Maoist Center) which leads the provincial government.

Dirgha Sodari, lawmaker and also provincial minister for Infrastructure Development, Tara Lama Tamang, UML’s former chief whip in the province, and Prakash Rawal, former state minister in the province today identified themselves with the CPN (Unified Socialist) at the provincial office of the Election Commission here.

Earlier, some 10 UML lawmakers had verified for the Unified Socialist deserting the UML.

There was no instruction about the UML party returning to the organization structure prior to Jesth 2, 2075 or the unification with the Maoist Center and formation of the CPN and as there were efforts to make the UML without us, we all opted for the Unified Socialist to resist the regression, lawmaker Tara Lama Tamang said.
