CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ pointed out the need to forward economic development and prosperity plans simultaneously so as to institutionalize political changes.
At a programme organized by the Leftist-Democratic Coalition Kathmandu constituency no 2 as part of electioneering here Sunday, Chairperson Prachanda observed that economic growth as per the will of people was necessary to institutionalize political changes.
Urging the party leaders and cadres associated with the coalition partners to cast their vote on the election symbols of coalition partners, the former Prime Minister recalled some historical incidents and facts. “The people’s movement in 2046 BS was spearheaded by the leftist-democratic coalition. The people’s movement in 2062/63 BS was also held by then seven-party alliance and the then CPN (Maoist).
The Chairperson asserted that election symbol of Nepali Congress- Tree- and his party’s Sickle and Hammer Crossed were acknowledged and accepted by each other while signing the Comprehensive Peace Accord by the then Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala and himself on the behalf of Maoist party.
“We have accepted each other. I urge one and all to cast vote in the upcoming polls without any doubts.” He urged the voters in Kathmandu constituency no 2 voters to create a history by electing the alliance’s candidates in their constituencies.
Prachanda shared that the slogan for the coalition forged in view of the November 20’s House of Representatives and Province Assembly election was –’Coalition for protection of constitution, stability and prosperity.’
Onsari Gharti, who had played an important role for the greater good of public and nation, has been fielded as the common candidate on the behalf of coalition, he added.
Similarly, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal said that Onsari Gharti, who had held one of the State organ’s highest posts-Speaker- fielded as the common candidate of the coalition was a matter of pride.
He viewed that the coalition should acknowledge candidacy of Gharti as the matter of prestige and asserted that Leftist-Democratic Alliance had played an important role in safeguarding democracy and constitution.
Nepal, also the former Prime Minister, opined that victory to coalition’s candidates was imperative to protect the rights of people and for the development of the country.
He assured that the coalition government and election candidates, if elected, would carry out the long-pending works. According to him, area stretching from Koteshwor to Sankhu could be developed as ‘Smart City’.
Nepal urged all the coalition parties’ leaders and cadres to take forward the election campaign actively to ensure Onsari Gharti’s assume leadership of Kathmandu constituency no 2.(RSS)
