Various personalities from different fields have been honoured for their special contribution in the field of Nepali literature and art by Dr. Harsha Bahadur Budha Magar Memorial Foundation.
On the occasion of the 94th birth anniversary of Budha Magar, writers Sher Bahadur Gurung and journalist Bandana Rana were honoured at a programme organised in Kathmandu on Monday.
At the same time, literary personalities Prof. Dr. Laxman Gautam, Jayadev Bhattarai, Pushkar Raj Bhatt, Bijay Sagar, Geeta Karki, singer Pabitra Gharti Magar, poet Bimala Tumkhewa, Balika Giri and Usha Lohani were awarded with the Harsha Bahadur Budha Magar Sahitya Samman-2021.
In the same programme, Harsha Bahadur Budha Magar Literature and Social Contribution Award -2021 was provided to Dr. Gyanu Pandey, lyricist Bam Bahadur Thapa Jitali, poet Mahesh Poudyal, novelist Shankar Bharati, poet Dr. Damodar Pudasaini, storyteller Jaleshwori Shrestha, poet Mahadev Adhikari, artist Milan Sherchan, poet Sandhya Pahadi, Asmita Bhandari, Kalpana Adhikari, Prakash Sameer, Muskan Khatun and Sapna Roka Magar.
Shambhujit Baskota, a senior musician and vice-chancellor of Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, said that Dr. Budha Magar’s contribution to Nepali art and literature was incomparable.
President of the foundation and scholar, lyricist Unnati Bohara Shila said that she has been providing honours and awards for the past few years by establishing the foundation in her father’s name as it was her father’s desire to develop Nepali literature.
At the same event, famous novelist Unnati Bohara’s new novel Desire was released. Published by Shikha Books, this novel is the English translation of Unnati’s Nepali novel Trishna.
