Sajha Yatayat has added three new e-buses to its fleet – the three new vehicles will be operated by women drivers and conductors, powered by electricity therefore environment friendly, and is accessible by people living with a disability.
According to Sajha Yatayat, the three new buses are being introduced as a soft launch of the trial service, and an additional 37 buses are expected to arrive in Kathmandu by mid-August. The service was inaugurated by Bishwabandhu Thapa, founding Chairman of Sajha Yatayat.
The three buses will ply two routes – two buses will serve commuters from New Bus Park to Airport through Balaju, Thamel, Ratnapark, and Baneshwor, while the third bus will serve commuters from Lagankhel to Budhanilkantha via Ratnapark and Lainchaur.
In a Press Note released by Sajha Yatayat, Kanak Mani Dixit, Chairman of Sajha Yatayat said “Sajha Yatayat is grateful to the government for investing in the e-vehicles taking into consideration the environment and convenience fo passengers”. The Press Note also added that the government should provide subsidised loans to allow regular operations of the e-vehicles and a large charging area for the e-buses.
