The Election Commission is all set to announce the final list of the members elected to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies under the proportional representation (PR) category on Wednesday.
Surya Prasad Aryal, Deputy Spokesperson for the Election Commission (EC), said that the Commission would announce the final results of November 20 elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) and Provincial Assemblies on Wednesday.
As many as 110 members are elected under the PR system to the 275-member HoR and 220 of 550 members of seven Provincial Assemblies. The results of 165 constituencies of the HoR and 330 of the Provincial Assemblies have already been public.
Joint Secretary of the EC Yagya Prasad Bhattarai said that the EC is also working to submit the final list of HoR members elected under both the FPTP and PR electoral systems to the President on Wednesday to pave the way for the formation of the new government.
As per the existing laws, the EC has to submit the final list of the members elected to the HoR within seven days of the publication of the final results of the elections to the President.
After receiving the final report, the President will then call the parties for the formation of the new government.
The parliamentarians of the political parties also need to elect their respective Parliamentary Party leader, who can be the candidate of the prime minister.
Earlier, the EC had forwarded its plan to submit the report of the election results to the President by
December 8 by making public all the results of the first-past-the-post (FPTP) election to the HoR and Provincial Assemblies within three days of the election.
However, due to delay in vote counting and other reasons, the Election Commission did not make all the results of the elections public even by Tuesday evening (December 13).
