Election Commission allows voters to cast their vote by showing license or other government documents

Election Commission (EC) has decided that voters, whose names are included in the final voter list, will not mandatorily require voters’ ID cards to cast their votes.

The registered voters will be allowed to cast their votes by showing any government documents for upcoming the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly election to be held on November 20.

The voters can take their original license, passport, citizenship, lalpurja, or any other government-issued original documents in the poll centers.

The commission has directed the concerned election offices to make necessary arrangements to verify the details of the final voter list based on the identity card brought for casting their votes.

According to Surya Prasad Aryal, Assistant Spokesperson of EC, although the commission distributed voters’ ID cards for the election, the arrangements were made to allow citizens to exercise their voting rights even if some voters’ identity cards are lost or destroyed.
