Flooded Kaligandaki Erodes Embankment, Beni Bazaar At Great Risk (Photo Feature)

Swollen due to incessant rainfall, the Kaligandaki River has washed away embankment made to save the Beni Bazaar, district headquarters of Myagdi.

About a hundred meter of embankment from Jaycees upward has been swept away due to erosion of the flooded river. Water level in the river has gone up since Tuesday night with the incessant rainfall fearing risk of further erosion of the embankment.

With the collapse of the embankment, Beni bazaar is at a high risk of erosion.

The floods and landslides falling down from Arthunge village have spread across Hospital Chowk and Buspark area, covering the area with mud and stone. The embankment made around buspark has also started to collapse.

As the rain has not stopped, river level is predicted to rise further. The authorities have asked the people in the settlement near the rivers to take precaution.
