FM Sharma Urges Ministries To Spend Budget On Time

Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has urged the various ministries to spend 30 per cent of the budget of their respective ministries by mid-January 2022.
He made this remark at an inter-ministerial discussion and interaction programme on capital expenditure held at the Ministry of Finance on Friday.

Stating that there was a problem of liquidity in the market due to low capital expenditure, Minister Sharma directed the ministries to spend the budget on development as soon as possible.
“I express my commitment that the Ministry of Finance won’t delay in implementing budgets,” he said. “About 30 per cent of the budget of my ministry will be spent within mid-January.
He also expressed his commitment to coordinate all the work required by the Ministry of Finance to spend the development budget in time.

Minister Sharma also warned the secretaries that if any budget was found not spent effectively at the quarterly review, the budget would be transferred.
“The budget does not remain in the same allocation. It will not be released at the end of the fiscal year,” he said.
“The budget will not be released in June. Whatever happens is already happening. If there is no expenditure, we will send it to the place where it will be spent. You cannot hold a budget if you cannot spend it in time,” said Minister Sharma.

Similarly, Minister Sharma also directed the ministries to send a reply to the Ministry of Finance within three days of receipt of the file.
Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Renukumari Yadav, Minister for Health and Population Birodh Khatiwada and Minister for Drinking Water Umakanta Chaudhary were present on the occasion.
