The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has said that economic activities should be allowed to run by adopting safety measures during the prohibitory order citing that the main responsibility of the government and the private sector is to make the economy run smoothly.
Issuing a press statement on Tuesday, FNCCI said that the private sector is ready to cooperate with the government to ensure smooth operation of economic activities so that jobs would not be lost even during the lockdown.
In such a situation, it is necessary to ensure the continuous operation of large projects of economic importance and operation of industries and factories.
The federation has demanded the government to facilitate the movement of workers required for the operation of industry and business including ease of supply, transportation, sale and distribution of manufactured goods and import of raw materials.
The FNCCI has also demanded to provide relief to the workers in the informal sector who have lost their jobs due to economic disruption.
Similarly, it has demanded to announce additional relief programmes for small and medium enterprises to solve the problems arising from the new wave of COVID-19 along with the continuation of the relief announced last year.
The private sector urged the government to vaccinate business entrepreneurs who are providing goods and services directly to the consumers in priority.
The FNCCI has urged the entrepreneurs to supply goods and services smoothly at reasonable market price.
