Former Minister faces Corruption Charges


Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a case against Badri Neupane, a former minister of Nepal for Women, Children and Social Welfare. Along with Neupane, 12 others are facing the charge for corruption.

Neupane is charged for embezzling Rs 315.2 million while leasing 60 ropani of land for Fun Park in Brikuti Mandap.

CIAA stated that norms and processes were breached to rent the land that belongs to Social Welfare Council (SWC). The other alleged in the case are Pramod Mehata, the then vice chairman of SWC, Kunja Bihari Prasad Chaudhary, treasurer, Rabindra Kumar, member, including Mohan Kumar Sharma, Madan Kumar Lal Karn and Hari Neupane.

Similarly, CIAA has charged case against board members, legal advisors and operators of the Fun Park, namely, Tek Bahadur Gurung, Rabindra Gurung, Ratna Gaha Magar, Madan Prasad Rimal, Bal Bahadur Swar, Prem Singh Dhami and Jagdev Chaudhary.

Commision found that the land in Bhrikuti Mandap was leased to Fun Park without calling public for tender.
