The meeting of the High-Level Committee on Prevention and Control of COVID-19 on Sunday decided the lockdown period should be extended till April 8.
The government has also extended the ban on international flights to Nepal till April 15.
After the government considered to extend lockdown period in a meeting on Sunday, another meeting was held at 4pm to decide the new date of lockdown.
Towards providing economic relief, according to Rastra Bank Governor, Chintamani Shivakoti, the sectors affected by coronavirus can pay their loan due of Chaitra in Ashad of next year.
However, if one wants to pay within Chaitra, there will be 10 percent discount on the interest.
Earlier, the government had decided to apply lockdown from March 23 to March 31 6am. So far, Nepal has reported five Covid-19 cases.
