Government to fine up to one lakh rupees for vehicles still on street without clearing pollution test


Nepal government has warned that those vehicles still plying on the roads without clearing pollution inspection will be fined up to one lakh rupees.

Issuing a notice today, Department of Environment, under the Ministry of Forests and Environment, has warned that vehicles failing to pass the pollution test after December 16 (Poush 1) will be fined up to one lakh rupees.

Currently those vehicles failing to pass the pollution test are provided with an opportunity to repair or maintain the vehicle. However, after December 16, such vehicles will be slapped with fine.

The department has also mentioned stated that such inspection can happen at any time and even those vehicles with green stickers or yellow stickers, which indicate that the vehicle has passed pollution test, can also be inspected, can also be inspected.

Also, the department has requested people to inform them if someone is burning garbage openly in their neighborhood and action will be taken against such people.
