Govt. aims policy reforms thru common minimum programme


The government on Monday released its common minimum programme by incorporating its key commitments in 21 points including providing citizenship certificate to those deprived ones within next six months.

The common minimum proramme was unveiled amid an event at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at the presence of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and other top leaders of the ruling alliance.

The common minimum programme includes the issue of citizenship to those without citizenship stating that Federal Parliament will troubleshoot other issues relating to the citizenship from the parliament session at the earliest possible time.

Likewise, national identity card would be distributed to all Nepalis within a year.

Furthermore, the government has committed to bringing almost a dozen new Acts or timely revision would be made in many Acts.

Public Procurement Act, Citizenship Act, Transport Management Act, Local Administration Act, Federal Civil Service Act, Health Care Act, Education Service Act, University Act and other Acts including to ensure voting rights to Nepalis living abroad and e-voting.

The government has announced to amend the policies, acts and mechanisms that have hindered the government interventions in maintaining good-governance, effective service delivery and prosperity campaigns.

Likewise, different state-owned organizations that have poor performance due to highly politicization would be restructured to make them efficient and professional and inter-agency coordination would be ensured among the state organs and effective monitoring mechanisms would be ensured for the best performance.

Furthermore, a high-powered commission would be formed to ensure structural changes and reforms in the judiciary and the commission’s recommendation would be implemented.

Similarly, the government has promised to ensure prompt, accessible and fair justice to the citizens.

The announcement also includes professional and accountable civil administration and security agencies in place through their massive reforms as per the recommendations made by an expert-led high-level taskforce.

The government formed on 25 December, 2022 under the leadership of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ announced its common minimum programme prior to the PM’s schedule to take a vote of confidence from the parliament. PM Prachanda is scheduled to take the vote of confidence from the parliament on Monday. (RSS)
