Govt Imposes Restrictions On Nighttime Businesses

In a bid to contain the spread of COVID-19, the government has urged the restaurants and other businesses to close them after 9 pm.
Issuing a public notice on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) made the request after a risk of further spread of COVID-19 increased due to the violation of health protocols and the growing number of the UK variant of the COVID-19 in the country.
Deputy Spokesperson at the MoHP Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari has asked all District Administration Offices (DAOs) for implementing health protocols and directing people to wear facemasks compulsorily while going out from their homes and punishing those violating the health safety protocol as per the Infectious Diseases Control Act.
According to the MoHP, all concerned local governments and health offices are asked to expand the scope of contact tracing to identify the persons infected with COVID-19 and increase the number of PCR and random antigen tests.
The local authorities are asked to restrict people’s movement if more than 500 cases are detected in big cities and more than 100 cases in small towns.
The MoHP has also urged the authorities to effectively implement the quarantine rules and the number of the members of foreign delegations visiting Nepal.
The ministry has asked all academic institutions to exercise a high level of precautions to avoid further spread of COVID-19 cases.
