Govt Resolves Problem Of Displaced Teachers


The problem facing 576 teachers and teaching staff who were removed from their jobs during conflict and in different political movements have been sorted out by the government.
A cabinet meeting held on Monday made the decision to resolve the matter.
According to the decision, 233 permanent teachers will be reinstated, Devendra Paudel, Minister for Education, Science and Technology informed.

Of them, 18 teachers will be appointed again as teachers, 41 will get some facilities and 284 will get lump sum financial assistance.
The decision was taken by the Council of Ministers as per the report submitted by a task force formed under the chairmanship of Principal Judge of the then Appellate Court Govinda Prasad Parajuli in 2008.

Of the total, 233 teachers will be reinstated and the permanent teachers who have not yet reached the age of retirement will be reinstated. Similarly, salary and allowances will be provided to the reinstated teachers based on their attendance at schools.

The government has decided to add a maximum of seven years’ service for the pension of the reinstated teachers who are already aged 60 or older. But, the benefit will not be provided to those who have already taken benefits from other way.

But in the case of 18 teachers with permanent appointment letter, they can join the work and their service period will be counted from the day one at the service.
Likewise, the government has also addressed the issue of another 284 temporary teachers from alternative way. It has decided to provide Rs. 100,000, Rs. 125,000 and 150,000 rupees to the teachers with less than three years of service, in addition to the accumulated sick leave they will get.

Similarly, Rs. 1 75,000, and 250,000 will be provided to the teachers with service period from three years to five years, as well as Rs. 350,000, Rs. 400,000, Rs. 450,000 and Rs. 500,000 to those with 10 to 15 years of service period.
Minister Paudel said now that the government had addressed their problems, the displaced teachers now felt a huge relief.
