Govt To Introduce Plan To Contain New Virus Variant


Minister for Communication and Information Technology Parbat Gurung said on Friday that the government was soon going to introduce a new detailed work plan to contain the growing threat of the new variant of COVID-19 virus in the country.
Speaking at a press conference organised to make the Cabinet decisions public at the Ministry this evening, Minister Gurung said the government was serious about saving lives by introducing necessary health protocols after the virus cases started rising.
He said the government would introduce a new detailed work plan after consulting with the concerned bodies and the lined-government agencies to contain the cases.
Minister Gurung also informed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday reshuffled his Cabinet after reappointing four ministers, who were relieved from their membership of the Maoist Centre, the party through which they were elected to the House of Representatives, for joining the CPN-UML.
On Thursday, the Maoist Centre had informed the Secretariat of the Federal Parliament about the action taken against the four ministers.
Minister Gurung said that the Prime Minister reappointed Top Bahadur Rayamajhi as Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation, Lekhraj Bhatta as Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Gauri Shanker Chaudhary as Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security and Prabhu Sah as Minister for Urban Development.
On the occasion, Minister Gurung, who is also the government spokesperson, made public the decision taken by the Cabinet on April 2 to expel 27 foreign nationals, including Murtaza Jahfray residing illegally in Nepal even after the expiry of visa.
“The government has also given approval to run secondary level school education abroad upon the license of the Ministry of Education of Nepal, if any Nepali community seeks such approval,” Minister Gurung said.
The government has given approval to Tribhuvan University to reuse 60 ropanis of land area in the west face of the TU
Examination Controller Centre for the establishment and running a Medical Super Specialty Centre and National Disease Cure Centre. The TU is also going to establish a separate Urology and Nephrology units in the area.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet meeting held on April 5 decided to declare Dilli Gautam of Kankai Municipality-3 in Jhapa district and Laxmi Pandey, permanent resident of Kachanakawal Municipality-6 of Jhapa, district as martyrs.
Likewise, Lieutenant Colonel of Nepali Army Binod Thapa of the account department was promoted to the post of Colonel and head of the department of the Army Headquarters.
The government has also given approval to ink a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the government of Nepal and Oman to conduct a tourist exchange programme.
The Cabinet meeting also changed the name of Doramba Rural Municipality of Ramechhap district into Doramba Sailung Rural Municipality.
