Hilsa has witnessed an April snowfall after many years on Wednesday.
According to Deputy Inspector of the Armed Police Force Gajendra Bhandari, a fresh layer of snow has blanketed Hilsa along with all other places of Humla that are above an altitude of 3,500 metres. This includes the entire area of Namkha Rural Municipality and some parts of Simkot Rural Municipality.
According to local hotelier Paljor Lama, snow started falling from around 1 am Wednesday morning and continued throughout the day.
He said that nearly two feet of snow had fallen, taking the temperature down to minus 4 degrees Celsius.
Due to the snowfall, the road to reach Limi, the village beyond the mountains, has been blocked.
