Home Minister Lamichhane’s citizenship dispute: hearing on January 6


The hearing of the eligibility of the Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane as a member of the House of Representatives (HoR) in the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court (SC) will be held on January 6.

The SC has called both sides in the discussion about the legitimacy of the citizenship of Lamichhane in a writ petition that was filed by the Advocate Yuvraj Basaula.

Even though the decision was made on December 21 but the certified copy of the decision has come today.

Acting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Hari Krishna Karki, advocates Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Dr Aananda Mohan Bhattarai, Anil Kumar Sinha, and Prakash Man Singh Raut are the panel of the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court.

Lawyers will discuss the eligibility of Lamichance as a member of the HoR on January 6. Chairperson of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party Lamichhane was elected as a member of the HoR from Chitwan constituency-2.
