The locals of Tangin, a remote village of Namkha Rural Municipality-1 of Humla, who were once forced to drink unsafe water directly from the river, are now getting drinking water supplied at their households. Thanks to the ward office for implementing its plan to assure tap water supply to every rural household on a regular basis.
The ward office, in partnership with the government and office of rural municipality, has reached a new milestone of providing 50 households with tap water supply.
Since all households of the village have running water supply at their home itself, it has saved the locals from the burden of having to walk a long distance every day to fetch water from the river.
The ward office’s goal of providing all households with piped water and safe drinking water has finally materialised, said ward chair Prem Bahadur Lama.
According to Lama, 50 households of the ward have been provided with tap water connection.
“After ensuring tap water supply to every home, the locals are now free of the burden to walk a long distance to fetch drinking water. They are now getting safe and clean drinking water in their households,” he said.
With this, villagers’ dream of getting easy access to safe and clean drinking water has come true.
He said that the households are using water by installing water taps according to their convenience.
The project was implemented in partnership with Namkha Rural Municipality and Water Resources Management Project RVWRMP, while locals have chipped in with free labour, said Birendra Thapa, district counselor of RVWRMP.
The project aims to provide potable water to the locals of remote villages as per their aspiration, said Thapa.
Sharing their happiness, locals claimed that connection of water supply at their households has also ensured water supply at their toilets.
