An impeachment motion has been registered against Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Cholendra Shamsher Jabra.
Spokesperson of the Parliament Secretariat Rajnath Pandey said that the impeachment was registered at 11 in the morning on Sunday.
The proposal has been signed by MPs Pushpa Bhushal, Deb Gurung and Jiban Ram Shrestha. There is a provision for automatic suspension of the Chief Justice with the registration of the impeachment motion.
Earlier, a motion of impeachment was filed against the then Chief Justice Sushila Karki in 2017.
Speaking to the reporters after the registration of the impeachment today, MP Deb Gurung said that the impeachment was registered as the court was not functioning properly and there were allegations of corruption.
