Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla is arriving in Kathmandu today on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Nepal’s Foreign Secretary Bharatraj Poudel.
Shringla will be accompanied by a delegation of officials from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. He is scheduled to arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu at 10:40 am.
He will be received by officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra and officials from the Indian Embassy.
This is Foreign Secretary Shringala’s first visit to Nepal. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, his visit to Nepal is a continuation of the high-level exchange of views between the two countries.
He is scheduled to meet President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Foreign Minister Pradip Kumar Gyawali and others today itself.
Similarly, Shringla is expected to address issues related to Nepal-India bilateral cooperation at a lecture being hosted tomorrow by the Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA), a Kathmandu-based leading foreign policy think tank.
“This lecture is a part of AIDIA’s aim to promote public diplomacy,” said Sunil KC, CEO/Founder of AIDIA.
“This lecture series will be of great relevance especially in the context of shaping an informed public discourse that places issues in perspective and helps contribute to deeper understanding of bilateral ties that ultimately benefits both countries.”
Shringla will return home on Friday after inaugurating the Jyapu Samaj building and inaugurating a monastery in Gorkha.
