Indian foreign secretary Kwatra calls on DPM Shrestha, Raxaul-Kathmandu railway dwelt on


Visiting Indian secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Vinaya Kwatra paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Narayan Kaji Shrestha today.

Issues pertaining to the construction of Raxaul-Kathmandu railways also featured along with the access road to the Arun III hydel project during the meeting.

While DPM Shrestha put forth issues related to railways, agreements between Nepal and India and projects with Indian fund in Nepal, Indian foreign secretary Kwatra raised issue pertaining to renewal of contract period of an Indian company for the operation of Jaynagar-Kurtha railway.

Jaynagar-Kurtha railway is being operated by an Indian company KRCL.

During the meeting, Kwatra spoke about the need to imparting training to Nepali technical human resource so as to make them sufficiently capable for the operation of the railway.

In response, DPM Shrestha lauded Kwatra’s proposal about training and said that the government was working to accelerate the construction of the access road to the Arun III hydel project.
