Karnali Government Plans Special Package For Landslide Victims


The Karnali Province government has begun preparation to bring a special package for the areas affected by floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains in mid-October.
Chief Minister of Karnali Province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi of Nepali Congress, who arrived in Humla district for on-site monitoring, said so after monitoring the areas on Saturday.
Chief Minister Shahi said that a relief package would be brought soon for the flood and landslide not only in Humla but in all the 10 districts of the Province.

He said that the new government has just been formed and the package will be delivered to the houses of the victims as soon as the government gets full shape.
Arriving in Humla on Saturday from Surkhet for monitoring, he paid a filed visit of the disaster-hit village like Thali village, Kharpelgaun of Ward No. 2 of Kharpunath Rural Municipality and Barigaun and Kankhegaun of Adanchuli.

Stating that there was no alternative to bringing relief package to the victims, he said that the government was on the side of the people in times of calamity. In Humla district alone, property worth Rs. 88 million was destroyed, according to the loss report prepared by the police.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shahi has been honoured in Humla district. He was honoured by the locals of the district saying that the district has got new CM for the first time. Chief of the District Coordination Committee Dan Bahadur Rawat said that Chief Minister Shahi was honoured on behalf of the people of Humla and the people of the district after he became the Chief Minister.
Respecting Chief Minister Shahi, he expressed confidence that development works would pick up speed now that Karnali Provinve has got a person who understands the geography and Karnali.
Similarly, the political parties of the district also honoured him by giving him a separate letter of appreciation.

Meanwhile, CM Shahi has instructed the employees of all levels in the district to work on behalf of the people. Giving instructions to the employees on Sunday morning, he said that no one is allowed to work against the sentiments of the people and instructed them to work with sincerity. Stating that the three-tier government structure continued in the district, he suggested the employees to move forward by coordinating with each other.
