KMC To Administer Second Shot Of Vero Cell From Today


The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is all set to administer the second dose of the Vero Cell vaccine against COVID-19 for three days starting from August 27.
According to the Kathmandu District Health Office, the second dose will be given to those who have completed 21 days after receiving their first dose.

Badri Bahadur Khadka, the office chief, said, “People above 50 years of age, drivers and helpers of public transport, teachers and professors as well as those travelling to foreign countries were listed for the vaccination campaign.”
Those who had earlier missed their second dose can also receive the booster dose, he added.

“We aim to inoculate second dose to 216,000 people during the three-day vaccination campaign,” said chief Khadka. The vaccination program will be conducted in all municipalities of Kathmandu.
Sending a letter to the KMC and other Kathmandu municipalities on Wednesday, the office informed that designated vaccination centres had been established in all 32 wards of the KMC and in other ten municipalities including Kirtipur Municipality, Budhanilkantha Municipality, Nagarjun Municipality, Gokarneshwar Municipality, Tarakeshwar Municipality, Kageshwari Manohara Municipality, and Tokha Municipality.

Similarly, the vaccine will be administered in Bir Hospital, Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital, Thapathali, Kathmandu Medical College, Sinamangal, Civic Service Hospital, Baneshwor, Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, and Radhaswami Isolation Center, Samakhusi, informed the office.
In this campaign, only second shot will be provided and no one will get the first dose, said Khadka.
