The Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) has issued guidelines to provide financial aid and relief to the people who had to seek treatment in hospitals or lost family members to COVID-19. Sunday’s meeting of the metropolitan’s disaster management committee issued the guidelines.
The metro had decided on June 3 that it would provide Rs. 100,000 to the families which lost a member to COVID-19, Rs. 50,000 to patients who needed to be admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) or had to be put on ventilator support and Rs. 25,000 to individuals who needed to seek treatment in hospitals or health facilities after contracting the coronavirus. The guidelines now enable LMC to implement that decision.
To receive the assistance, an application has to be submitted on behalf of the COVID-affected individual or family to the COVID-19 relief sub-committee led by the Deputy Mayor of the LMC within 35 days of the patient’s death or discharge from the hospital.
Individuals infected prior to the issuance of this directive have to submit applications within 35 days of it coming into force.
According to the guidelines, all applications must contain valid proof of identity, hospital documents showing the date of admission and discharge, death certificate for those who died in a hospital and the death registration certificate from the ward office, documents disclosing the relationship of the applying person with the deceased and a recommendation letter from the ward office. In the case of those who passed away while in home isolation or outside a health facility, a recommendation letter from the ward and documents confirming the management of the dead body should also be submitted.
The LMC has stated that the aid will be provided within 15 days after receiving the complete application.
As per the metropolis, anyone, including any employee of the LMC, who tested positive for the coronavirus after April 15 is eligible to receive the aid. The economic relief will be available until the metro’s disaster management committee cancels it.
