Lawmakers have suggested finding a long-term solution by carrying out a study of telecom problems seen in rural areas.
At an interaction organised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology here today, they stressed the need of bringing the government’s plan of reaching internet service in every village into practice.
On the occasion, Nepali Congress leader and lawmaker Chitra Lekha Yadav appealed to the government to resolve the problems seen in the telecom tower of rural areas at the earliest.
Similarly, former Minister and lawmaker Sher Bahadur Tamang laid emphasis on the development of telecom in order to make Digital Nepal’s framework put forth by the government fully successful.
President of Finance Committee under the House of Representatives, Krishna Prasad Dahal said that there are many complaints about telecom service and it should resolve it at the earliest.
Likewise, lawmaker Nabaraj Silwal, shared that though the telecom has made income, it has not been able to provide quality service while lawmaker Ganesh Kumar Pahadi stressed the need of making media-related acts and laws communication-friendly by amending them to fulfil Nepal’s concept of digital Nepal.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Parbat Gurung, urged Telecom to give written suggestion to resolve policy-level and other problems seen in the Telecom sector.
Chairperson of Nepal Telecom Authority, Purushottam Khanal, and Managing Director of Nepal Telecom, Dilliram Adhikari, said that activities are underway in an expedited manner with the objective of making Nepal Telecom-friendly.
Lawmakers of Province 2 and Bagmati Province were present on the occasion.
