Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has stressed the need of focusing on rural development to control rural to urban migration.
Speaking at a press meet organised by the Nepali Congress, Devghat today, he said people would not be compelled to move to urban areas from villages provided that job opportunities and income-generating activities are ensured within the villages. “Villages are becoming vacant in absence of development and employment opportunities.”
The former Deputy Prime Minister took time to advise the government to focus on rural development to contain the rural-urban migration. He also said he was committed to the development of the village, underlining the need of developing Devghat as a hub for religious tourism. (RSS)
