Local Leaders’ Vehicles Turned Into Ambulance


After the spread of coronavirus infection at the community level of the Bagmati Province, the representatives of local governments have become active to construct isolation centres and arrange for ambulances for prevention and control.
As communities have been facing the shortage of ambulances along with increasing number of coronavirus patients, some people’s representatives of Bagmati Province have started using their vehicles to take corona infected and other patients.
According to our Chitwan correspondent, Ratnanagar Municipality of the district decided to use four vehicles as ambulance. Vehicles used by Mayor Narayan Ban, deputy chief Bimala Duwadi, chief administrative officer, Shishir Poudel and one other vehicle of the office are in use to bring corona infected patients to hospitals.
As the municipality faces the shortage of ambulances and other vehicles, it has announced on Friday that four vehicles of the municipality will also be used for the treatment. In the announcement, chief Ban asked with residents of the municipality to call the municipality if they required vehicle.
Now we are using our vehicles as ambulances, said the mayor. If you need a vehicle, contact the municipality, he added.
Earlier, Ratnanagar had started free ambulance service to take the infected persons to the hospital.
According to our Sindhuli correspondent, the chairman and deputy chairman of Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality of the district have announced to allow the vehicle they are riding to carry corona-infected patients.
Jagat Bahadur Bholan, chairperson and Durgadevi Sunuwar, vice-chairperson of Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality, have announced to use the jeep as their ambulance. Chairperson Bholan said villagers can use the transportation as ambulance.
Likwise, according to our Kavre correspondent, the vehicle used by the chief, deputy chief and chief administrative officer of Panchkhal Municipality are also under use as an ambulance to transport the increasing number of COVID-19 patients.
Mahesh Kharel, chief of the municipality said both government vehicle and his personal vehicle can be used as ambulance for the management of COVID-19 patients.
Likewise, vehicles used by deputy chief Laxmi Danuwar and chief administrative officer Shiva Prasad Humaguain are also in use to transport COVID-19 patients.
Kanchan Chandra Bade Shrestha, former state Minister and Nepali Congress leader, has also announced to provide their personal vehicle as an ambulance.
According to our Makwanpur correspondent, chief administrative officer of Thaha Municipality Harilal Puri and representative of Makawanpurgadhi Rural Municipality have also announced to provide the vehicles to transport coronavirus infected patients to the hospital.
