A cabinet meeting held at 11:00 am on Wednesday has decided to extend the nation-wide lockdown till May 18 (Jestha 5).

The High-Level Committee for Coronavirus Prevention and Control has decided to extend the lockdown as coronavirus cases are surging in Nepal.

Meanwhile, the government has been criticized for conducting negligent number of tests despite the multiple extensions of the lockdown.

As of yet, only 66,077 tests have been conducted across the country, including 13,850 PCR and 52,227 RDTs.

During the one-and-half month-long of lockdown, 82 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the country.
