ROLPA, July 19: Construction of a motorable bridge over the Madi Khola river in Rolpa district has been completed after a decade since its foundation was laid.

The bridge connects the western belt of Rolpa district with the rest of the district. Travel to over half a dozen rural municipalities in the western belt has become easier with the construction of the bridge.

The government had appointed a second contractor for the construction of the bridge saying the first contractor could not carry out the construction within the deadline and as per the specification.

Asiatic Raj JV Construction Company had been awarded the contract for construction of the bridge with the condition that it should complete the bridge construction within 17 months of signing the contract. The contract was signed on July 15, 2018.

The bridge has been constructed at a cost of Rs 33.5 million.

The contractor Rajbir Shahi said all works related to the construction of the bridge have been completed as per the contract agreement and it would be opened for traffic within a few days. (RSS)
