Maghi Parva aids in maintaining religious tolerance: NA Chairperson Timalsina


National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timalsina asserted that festival like Maghe Sankranti helped maintain mutual goodwill and fraternity.

On the occasion of Maghe Sankranti (the first day of the Nepali month Magh) today, NA Chair Timilsina said that festival like Maghe Sankranti had been playing an important role in maintaining national unity.

“The festival like this bearing religious, vedic and cultural significance should be preserve and promoted to dissiminate the message of social amity and unity,” he viewed.

“I extend best wishes to all Nepalis sisters and brothers at home and abroad and wish happiness, peace, health and prosperity for them on this occasion,” the message reads.

Various cultures and communities celebrate the Maghe Sankranti festival with much fanfare as per their traditions. Tharu community marks the festival as New Year while Magar and Chantyal consider it as their major festival. Kirant community observes it as Kirant Yele (New Year).

“I believe that this festival aids in spreading the message of peace among all Nepalis and further foster mutual amity and tolerance,” he said.
