Maoist Center’s Standing Committee Discusses Upcoming National Convention, MCC

The Standing Committee meeting of the CPN (Maoist Center), a party in the ruling coalition, on Tuesday discussed the national convention of the party to be held in January.

“As the meeting was focused on the national convention of our party, we dwelt on organizational issues. We discussed ways to hold ward-level conventions, the formation of the committees, renewal of the party organization. The meeting also discussed ways to move forward by resolving problems surfaces in some provincial committee of the party,” said Dev Gurung, a standing committee member of the party, after the meeting.

Gurung said the meeting also dwelt on the issue related to the writing of a letter to the MCC in relation to US cooperation by the Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. “How appropriate is it to send a letter to a company by a leader of a political party? We have a clear stand that the MCC cannot be endorsed unless and until it is amended,” he said.

Similarly, party spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that the meeting decided to hold the party’s national convention in Kathmandu.
