Maoist Centre key actor in country politics: Chair Prachanda

The Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said his party is one of the key actors in national politics.

Addressing the central office bearers’ meeting of the Press Centre Nepal in Lalitpur on Sunday, Chairman Prachanda said the Maoist Centre had shouldered the responsibility to lead the country to a right direction. “Maoist Centre is now a key force in Nepal that even the international power can not influence here without knowing its position,” he observed.

Chairman Prachanda argued that some powers were active to extirpate Maoist, so it is everyone’s responsibility to protect the party. “It is clear that government would be led on a rotational basis,” he said, asserting that Maoist Centre had the power to command 60 seats in the parliament. “Where we stand, there we make government,” he hinted at giving continuity to the existing alliance with Nepali Congress and CPN (Unified Socialist).

He however said the party failed to work up to the marks in election results. The forces that want to see the Maoist Centre frail did not become successful, he underscored.

Chairman Prachanda stressed that Press Centre could play a significant role to analyse international activities in view of the multi-polar world and the present people’s mandate so that it would be easy to take ahead the country in a new vein. He also urged the Press Centre to make proper marketing of media contents for the protection and institutionalization of the achievements of Maoist revolution.

On a different note, former Prime Minister Prachanda said that the Maoist Center will have no tension even if the CPN (UML) and NC come together to form the government. “In the event of such a situation, we will be active in both the parliament and people’s front which will help transform ourselves.”

He also urged the PCN to provide feedback as to how the Maoist Center can rebrand itself for its unique identity. “We have to make clear the suitable conduct and practices of our party rank and file so that those having unfit practices sideline themselves.”

On the occasion, the founding chair of Press Centre Nepal, Maheshwor Dahal, viewed that irrespective of technological development, it is important to note how quality content are produced. “We’ve labour but no capital. So, it’s better runto media in a cooperative model,” he suggested.
