Mercury Plummets Up To Minus 8 Degree Celsius In Hilsha, Limi


Minimum temperature has plummeted to minus degree Celsius in Hilsha and Limi, bordering China in Namkha village in the northern part of Humla district.
As the mercury dipped down to minus, the frosting cold has brought normal life to standstill.

Paljor Tamang, ward chairman of Namkha Rural Municipality-6 Limi, said that the minimum temperature in Limi had dropped to minus eight degrees Celsius.
He said that the water in taps had frozen when the temperature dropped to minus in the morning and evening even though it was a little lower in the afternoon.

Local Karma Lama said that the temperature had gone down up to minus eight degree Celsius in Hilsha area of ​​Namkha. As Hilsha lies just below the gorge of the Karnali River, the sun does not shine and the water freezes round the clock.

He said that the health workers living in Hilsha and the police stationed at the Border Security Police Post had been facing hardships.
The Karnali River is completely frozen. He said that the locals of Hilsha were forced to live by lighting firewood inside their houses.
