The Area Administrative Office of Narainapur, which got displaced during the insurgency period, is going to be restored this month. People of Narainapur, one of the most underdeveloped and rural areas in Banke district, had been facing a litany of problems in getting essential services, like issuance of the citizenship certificates, in absence of Area Administrative Office (ADO).
That had forced them to travel to as far as Nepalgunj, from where Narainpur had been catering to the service seekers, to avail the basic services as well as facilities. The District Administration Office Banke, informed that the ADO would be reestablished in Narainpur soon as per the instruction of newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
Days before her appointment as a minister in the Lumbini Province government, Krishna KC, had also submitted a letter to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Home Minister Lamichhane demanding immediate restoration of the ADO.
Ishtiaq Ahmed Shah, chairman of Narainapur Rural Municipality, said that the ADO is going to restored soon after the Prime Minister instructed the DPM and Home Minister which was forwarded to the District Administration Office, Banke.
“In the past, the persistent effort to restore the office failed to materialize, but things have now turned around. The prospect of restoration of the office has elated the locals,” added Shah. “The people will now receive the services at their doorsteps.”
Immediately after the instruction from the federal government to restore the office, a joint team of security officers including Province Minister Krishna KC, Chief District Officer of Banke Surya Bahadur Khatri, Chief Police Officer SP Santosh Singh Rathore inspected the ADO building of Narainpur.
Province Minister KC, who had reached Narainapur for inspection, said that after the instructions of the Prime Minister and the DPM and Home Minister to established the ADO, the compulsion of the local residents to go to the district headquarters Nepalgunj has ended.
The rural municipality has decided to rent a 5-room building to operate the ADO in Narainapur-4. People are demanding that other offices, including land surveyors’ and land revenue, should also be established in villages so that the people do not have to travel to district headquarters for small works like paying land revenue.
