National lockdown extended till Jestha 32 (June 14)

Nepal government has decided to extend the lockdown till Jestha 32 (June 14) as a preventive method to control the rapid spread of coronavirus COVID-19 infection – following a surge in recent cases.

The cabinet meeting has also decided to mobilize the army in areas where the corona infection has spread widely. The decision has been taken by the Council of Ministers as per the suggestion of the Security Council meeting which was held right before meeting of the Council of Ministers on Saturday.

However, the modality of lockdown may change during the coming lockdown period.

According to media sources, the new modality of the extended lockdown will be decided after consultation with experts.

The lockdown implemented by the government started from March 24 and has been extended several times, the last time it was said to be till June 2.
