Central member of the ruling Nepali Congress Dr Shekhar Koirala has stressed the need for organising local level elections in time.
As the periodic election is a fundamental right of people in democracy, the election should not be deferred under any pretext, he stressed while talking to media persons today morning at his private residence in Biratnagar.
He suggested that the government should directly talk with the election commission on the matter instead of postponing the election by amending acts and laws. “It is better for the government to fix the election date after holding a discussion with the government on the matter instead of talking with the coalition parties.”
In another context, the leader suggested that the party leadership should nominate the senior leaders who lost in the recently-held party’s 14th general convention as party central members.
Insisting that Province 1 should be named through a consensus, he viewed that ministry split and the increment of the cabinet size would impact good governance of the provincial government. It also should focus on the country’s economic situation before expanding the government and it should be transparent, responsible and accountable, he reiterated.
