NC To Form Central Work Execution Committee


The central working committee of the Nepali Congress which is meeting in a short while today is expected to constitute the party’s central work execution committee.

Party general secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma said the meeting will discuss the formation of the central work execution committee and the local level election among other topics.

The central working committee elected by the party’s 14th General Convention in the second week of December 2021 has already held its two meetings before this.

Today’s meeting is the third one and it is going to be held through virtual means in view of the COVID-19 risk.

The party’s 14th General Convention had elected 134 members including the office-bearers while the party President will nominate 33 more members to the central working committee. Party president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has already nominated 13 members.

As per the party’s Statute, the president, vice-president, general secretary, treasurer and the joint general secretary of the central working committee are the ex-officio members of the central work execution committee.

The party president will propose the names of 31 members from the working committee to the central work execution committee. The central working committee has to endorse the president’s nominations by a majority.

The party’s parliamentary party leader and central spokesperson are the ex-officio members of the central work execution committee. The work execution committee will hold its meeting at least once a month.

The Nepali Congress presently has 13 office-bearers including the president, vice president, general secretaries and the joint general secretary while the treasurer and spokesperson are yet to be nominated.

The central work execution committee will have 46 members as party president Deuba is himself its parliamentary party leader.
