NCP Roots For Forwarding Party Registration Process


Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has suggested to the Election Commission to move forward the election process with alacrity.

The NCP representatives suggested this on the consultation meeting convened here today by the Election Commission to discuss on the preparations for the election to the House of Representatives and on the party registration.

On the occasion, the party representatives urged the Election Commission to forward the party registration process for holding the election in the stipulated time.

Party leaders Subas Nembang, Ministers Bishnu Prasad Poudel and Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Bagmati provincial government minister Rameshwor Phuyal, lawmaker Bimala Poudel, advocate Baburam Dahal and Ramesh Badal were present in the discussion.

Talking to the media after the meeting, Nembang said since the Election Commission has reached a conclusion regarding the party’s legality, it will move ahead the rest of the processes based on the same.

“Election is our priority and it should be held on the stipulated date. The party chairman is concerned about this. He is seriously working for holding the election on April 30 and May 10. He has urged all the parties to prepare for the election,” he said.

In the consultations, Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya informed the meeting regarding the preparations the Election Commission has made in connection with preparing for the election.

Election Commissioner Ishwori Prasad Poudyal shared the Commission’s expectation from the political parties and the objective of the meeting. He added that the Election commission was preparing for the election to holding the election on the set date without allowing for any weakness.

He reiterated that the political parties are expected to fully cooperate to holding the election successfully.

Clarifying that the political parties should create appropriate political environment to hold election and it was their responsibility, he shared that the EC would organise meeting again at appropriate time.

On the occasion, representatives of the Nepal Communist Party expressed commitment that the NCP would provide all types of support to hold election to the House of Representatives and they would present at any time if EC calls, said EC Spokesperson, Rajan Kumar Shrestha.

Although the EC had invited chairperson of both factions of NCP or the representatives assigned by Chairperson as well as representatives looking after law and election, Dahal-Nepal faction had submitted a written letter at EC saying it could not attend the meeting as its both chairpersons are out of the Kathmandu Valley.

NCP Dahal-Nepal Group abstains from consultation

Meanwhile, Dahal-Nepal group, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has informed the Election Commission in writing of its inability to take part in a consultation reasoning that its both chairs Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal are out of the Kathmandu Valley for political programmes.

Party leaders Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Leelamani Pokharel and Mukti Pradhan reached the EC office today morning and informed in this regard.

The EC had called NCP leaders to hold a discussion on preparations for upcoming elections and registration of political parties.
