The ruling Nepali Congress has secured victory in two seats of HoR in Kathmandu while it is leading in three of the remaining eight constituencies of Kathmandu district as of Tuesday night. Likewise, UML has secured victory in one seat of Kathmandu.
The Nepali Congress opened its account in Kathmandu with its leader Prakash Man Singh winning in Kathmandu constituency-1. He won with a small margin of just 125 votes. He secured 7,143 votes against his nearest rival of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Rabindra Mishra’s 7,018 votes. Singh has won the election for the fourth time from the constituency.
Nepali Congress general secretary Gagan Thapa secured the HoR seat from Kathmandu contiteuncy-4 by a big margin of 7,447 votes.
He garnered 21,302 votes while his closest rival of CPN-UML Rajan Bhattarai received 13,855 votes. Thapa has been elected to the HoR from the constituency for the third consecutive time.
Similarly, CPN-UML’s candidate Krishna Gopal Shrestha has been elected to HoR from Kathmandu-9. He secured 11,956 votes while his closest rival Tek Bahadur Pokharel of Rastriya Swatantra Party received 10,961 votes. CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate Kalpana Dhamala secured third position with 6,402 votes in the same constituency.
Meanwhile, Pradip Paudel of NC has been elected from Kathmandu-5. He defeated CPN-UML senior vice chairman Ishwor Pokhrel. Paudel garnered 15,237 votes while Pokhrel received 10,172 votes.Additionally, CPN-UML candidate Prem Bahadur Maharjan has been elected to the HoR from Lalitpur-2. He secured 15,025 votes, while his nearest rival Sudin Shakya of the Hamro Nepal Party got 8,886 votes, and Buddha Ratna Maharjan of the Rastriya Swotantra Party got 8,666 votes.
A common candidate of the ruling alliance of CPN (Unified Socialist) Krishna Lal Maharjan got only 8,264 votes.
Likewise, Ambar Bahadur Rayamajhi, a CPN-UML candidate of Udayapur-2, also secured victory in HoR. He received 15,251 votes, while his closest contender Jagannath Khatiwada of CPN (Unified Socialist), a common candidate of the ruling alliance, got 12,893 votes.
In Rasuwa, NC candidate Mohan Acharya won with 18,235 votes.
