After receiving approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is all set to resume Kathmandu-New Delhi flights as part of the air bubble scheme from December 16.
According to NAC, a single flight will be conducted on a daily basis and flight schedules will be released after CAAN’s approval, which is likely to come today.
The flights are resuming under the bilateral ‘air bubble’ scheme. The air bubble concept is a bilateral arrangement between two countries under which airlines from both countries can operate international flights with a set of COVID-19 related regulations and restrictions in place.
Though the government had resumed international flights partially in September, flights to India haven’t resumed.
NAC has claimed that flights will be operated in compliance of the health safety measures set by CAAN and International Civil Aviation Organisation. Airline operators have also issued their own Standard Operating Procedures, under which the flights are being operated.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on November 25 had decided to resume flights from Nepal to India and vice-versa.
