Nepal will be upgraded to developing country by 2026: PM Deuba

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the country will be upgraded to a developing country by 2026.

Addressing the Sustainable Infrastructure Investment Forum of the Investment Board of Nepal on Wednesday, Prime Minister Deuba viewed that Nepal will be upgraded to a developing country by means of infrastructure development and economic growth.

“We have a plan to bring about improvement in economic development for achieving the status of developing country by 2026. For this, we have to develop infrastructure. For the development of infrastructure in the country, private sector investment is important along with the need for foreign investment. I urge all for the investment,” said PM Deuba.

He said the government has been prioritizing infrastructure development as per the present 15th five-year plan.

He also said that Nepal has a national policy and plan to reduce carbon emissions to a zero level by 2045.

Saying the country is in need of 19 billion USD for achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs), he pointed out the need for the private sector and foreign investment.
