Seven additional cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Nepalgunj on Tuesday, taking the total number of confirmed cases in Nepal to 82.
Of the seven, three are males, aged 22, 30 and 40, and four are females, aged 9, 32, 34, and 55. Their swab samples were collected and sent to Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj for PCR test, which confirmed the infection.
Contact tracing is underway in Nepalgunj since last week after a 60-year-old male tested positive for coronavirus.
The octogenarian had been to Nanapur of UP, India before the lockdown, and is a teacher at a local mosque. It was revealed he had come into contact with several families as he used to teach local children at their homes.
Meanwhile, with increasing cases of coronavirus in Nepalgunj, the District Administration Office (DAO), Banke has imposed a three-day curfew starting from 11:00 am today in the city.
Issuing a press release, Banke DAO informed that the curfew is aimed at preventing and minimizing the spread of coronavirus as well as to make contact tracing and sample collection effective.
The curfew will end at Thursday midnight. Nepalgunj residents have been asked not to leave their houses during the curfew.
The press release also states that anyone found flouting the curfew directive will be liable to legal punishment.
