New cases cross 1,000 mark, two deaths in 24 hours


With 1,090 new cases (RT-PCR and antigen tests combined) of COVID-19 confirmed on Tuesday, the nation’s novel coronavirus tally has reached 991,185.

In 2,958 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 560 people were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its regular update on Tuesday.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 530 people in 3,342 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.

Currently, there are 5,806 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 213 are admitted to institutional isolation while 5,593 patients are placed in home isolation. Out of which 61 are in ICU and seven are on ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 438 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.

Nepal has now recorded 973,405 cases of recovery, and the recovery rate is at 98.2 per cent.

Two fatalities related to COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the MoHP. So far, Nepals’ COVID-19 death toll has reached 11,974.
