The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the government to take action against those involved in violation of transitional justice and cater justice to the victims as stated in the comprehensive peace accord (CPA).
NHRC Spokesperson Dr Tikaram Pokhrel issued a press release today on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of the signing of CPA and reminded that it had amended the laws relating to transitional justice mechanism in line with human rights with international standard and the Supreme Court decisions.
The NHRC urged all sides concerned including government to ensure justice to the victims on time and bring to book the human rights violators so that it would contribute to reducing impunity.
It also reminded the government that NHRC was given responsibility to monitor whether the government and then rebellion side abided by the CPA. Despite various positive developments after the peace process as management of weapons, integration of Maoist fighters, election to the Constituent Assembly, constitution writing and implementation, the conflict victims are yet to get justice.
