Bodies of 10 of those 15 swept away by a sudden landslide at Rachula Village in Tilgupha Municipality-4 have been recovered.
Those who went missing were participating in the funeral procession of a local youth Hemraj Shahi, and among the missing is the Ward Chair of Tilgupha Municipality 4, Par Bahadur Shahi.
The landslide occurred when the last rites were being performed at Bhedikhola funeral site located between the Karnali River and the Kukur Khola (stream).
A rescue team under the leadership of police inspector of the Kalikot Police Office, Nanda Bahadur Rawat, recovered 13 bodies of the 15 missing today, two days after the incident.
Shuvaraj Bam, the spokesperson of the district police office, said that a search and rescue operation for the remaining two is going on.
He said the operation was getting hitches due to the incessant rainfall that has triggered landslides at different places along the Karnali Highway.
Of the bodies found today is that of Par Bahadur Shahi, the ward chair who got elected as a candidate from the CPN (Maoist Center). All the dead were from the same ward, ward 4.
