Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has, to date, coordinated the rescue of 125 tourists stuck in different parts of the country and facilitated their travel to Kathmandu.
Similarly, the Board has tracked around 700 tourists through its travel locator forms available on its website and around 1,200 tourists in collaboration with various diplomatic missions in Nepal.
According to data released by NTB, it has also handled almost 1,000 calls and 200 emails since the latest prohibitory orders were imposed in various districts of the country. The calls and emails were handled through the crisis hotline and email service operated by the Board.
In late April, the Board also activated its Crisis Management and Coordination Unit to promptly disseminate accurate and reliable information to stranded tourists and the private sector. The Unit also carries out the necessary coordination and facilitation with other government and non-government bodies. Crisis information has also been continuously disseminated through NTB’s official social media handles and the ‘Stranded in Nepal’ website and support groups, the Board stated, adding that it has coordinated all crisis management and communication activities related to tourism as per the directives of the Government of Nepal.
Furthermore, NTB has been supporting the federal government in ensuring that the passengers who arrive in Nepal from India under the Air Bubble arrangement between the two countries comply with the safety protocol mandated by the Nepali government. It also assists authorities in monitoring hotels to inspect the conditions of quarantine and hygiene, it informed.
