Passengers, who were bound to leave for Delhi, are furious as their flight was canceled after boarding passes were distributed. Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) stopped the flight of RA-217 Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), which was about to fly to New Delhi with 254 passengers on Sunday evening.
According to the Director-General of TIA, Premnath Thakur, the flight schedule of the winter season was implemented from today (30 October 2022 to 27 March 2022) and the number of flights has been reduced as per approved schedule of Civil Aviation Authority Nepal (CAAN).
However, employees claimed that the CAAN delayed the approval of the flight schedule and they were informed late about the decision.
73 of the passengers had already passed collected their boarding pass, went through security check and were in the waiting area.
A passenger traveling to Germany claimed that he will lose around NRs. 2 lakh if he cannot reach Delhi today as he has a ‘non-refundable’ ticket.
Many of the passengers have a connecting flight to other destinations and have to reach the Delhi airport to catch their transit flight.
Passengers are still stranded at the airport while Nepal Airlines has assured that some passengers will be sent to another Indian company’s plane flying to Delhi, while others will be boarded on NAC’s next scheduled flight to Delhi.
