Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that a joint effort from government and people was necessary to control the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his video message, on the occasion of ‘nation-wide facemask drive’, PM Deuba said that effort from the government alone would not be adequate to control the pandemic.
“There seem to be signs that we are now on the verge of being hit by the third wave of the pandemic,” said PM Deuba. “If you go out, wear masks properly covering the nose and mouth. Maintain physical distance and wash hands with soap and water frequently.”
“Let’s strictly adhere to all health safety measures. As our best hope against COVID-19 is vaccination, people of different age groups are now being vaccinated,” said PM Deuba.
PM Deuba requested all to maintain physical distance from each other at the vaccination centres.
PM Deuba has also requested all political parties, private sector, NGOs for not organising any gatherings and asked all to follow all safety protocols while conducting regular activities.
“I am confident that we will be able to defeat the virus with our combined efforts,” said PM Deuba.
The government from Saturday started a week-long facemask drive as the violation of the health safety protocols against COVID-19 is going on despite its growing risk. The campaign aims to make people aware of the proper use and benefit of wearing a facemask.
The slogan for the campaign is: “My commitment to prevent and control the pandemic: the need of the day is to wear a facemask.”
